SCSI(SMALL COMPUTER SYSTEM INTERFACE) Drives A Complete Refrence

SCSI(SMALL COMPUTER SYSTEM INTERFACE) DRIVES

SCSI DRIVE Not really small.its been around for long time.
SCSI is basically designed to string many peripherals together onto a single cable/controller.
can support upto 16 devices.
The common generalization is that SCSI disks are fast, reliable, and expensive, while IDE drives including PATA and SATA designs are slow, unreliable, and cheap. The truth is a bit more complicated. Note that when "SCSI" is used here, nowadays that normally means SAS ("serial attached SCSI")

SCSI Disks:-

1.its not just for the hard drives can also be used with Scanners,Tape Drives.
2.Many devices can work on a single Bus.
3.Often have higher available maximum RPM (10K or 15K).
4.Maximum capacity is lower (73-300GB are popular sizes).
5.Cost/MB is high.

SCSI LOGICAL UNITS:-
1.Every SCSI device on a single bus is assigned a seperate number.
2.The signal at the end of the SCSI bus is terminated
3.Serial attached SCSI Devices have no jumpers, terminators, or settings.
